This is the bottom end of the Sukhoi gear leg and the brake caliper. The original axle fit through the large hole. We could have enlarged the hole and made the new axle fit through the leg but then the gear could not be returned to its original configuration; which could be a nuisance if the owner ever decided to sell the plane.
