This is the Sukhoi gear leg with the axle mounting bolts and shim in place. Another reason we didn't enlarge the axle hole was that design did not provide any way to adjust the wheel alignment. Bolting the axle to the face of the gear leg allows adjustment with tapered shims (a method in common use on production aircraft).
